The Convenor
The conference is convened by Dr. Lovey Srivastava, Assistant Professor at CSPILAS, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her research and teaching span comparative literature, cinema and cultural studies, Indian Knowledge Systems, higher education pedagogy, and contemporary global politics, and she has presented and published widely on gender, culture, and cross-regional literary and cinematic representation. Drawing on this interdisciplinary background, she conceived the conference as a platform to bring youth narratives and cultural practices from across the world into sustained academic conversation.
Jawaharlal Nehru University
Jawaharlal Nehru University, established in 1969 in New Delhi, is one of India's leading central universities, widely recognised for its strength in the social sciences, international studies, and language and culture studies. Consistently ranked among the top universities in the country, JNU is home to numerous specialised centres and schools engaged in advanced research and teaching, and draws students and scholars from across India and abroad. Its School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, of which CSPILAS is a part, is known for its interdisciplinary approach and international academic collaborations.
Centre of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian & Latin American Studies (CSPILAS)
CSPILAS was established in the early 1970s as the Centre of Spanish Studies and was expanded and renamed in 2004 to include Portuguese, Italian, and Latin American programmes, as part of JNU's School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies. It is regarded as one of the leading centres for Hispanic and Latin American studies in South Asia, offering integrated undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes and maintaining active academic ties with universities and institutes across the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world. Beyond language instruction, the Centre engages with literature, linguistics, culture, and history through an interdisciplinary lens that also draws on history, sociology, philosophy, and comparative literature.
